When trying to lose weight you need to have a diet and exercise plan in place if you ever want to achieve your goal. To effectively shoot a basketball you aim at the basket then you take action to try and make the shot.

When trying to lose weight, you need to take similar approach. However, your target will be your “target weight”.

How do I know my ideal body weight?

I will first state that everyone is different, and guidelines should only be used as such. But in order to get to your target weight, you need to learn how to calculate your bmi (body mass index).

How do I know what is my bmi?

In order to get this index number, you will need a body mass index calculator that you can then use along with an ideal body weight chart.

This chart will then tell you which fitness range you fall within. With this information you will now be armed and ready to begin your exercise and diet plan that will get you one step closer to your goal.

That is when the fun starts! You can have all the charts, plans, and exercise motivational tools in place but if you don’t take action in working out, nothing will be accomplished.

As I mentioned, the chart above is a guideline to help you get to a weight that is comfortable and more importantly, healthy.

It is not an exact science, but if you are well above the healthy range then it should indicate to you that you will need to put in some effort to get back on that healthy track.

I know for myself there are times when it gets very difficult to make myself put in the work needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

It is very easy sometimes to simply sit back on my couch telling myself that, “I will make it up tomorrow”.

I learned that you never do. You need to get yourself in the frame of mind that that there is no better time than now.
